Tasting Culture

BC’s craft gin scene is built on curiosity and creativity. Each distillery brings its own approach, from wild-foraged botanicals to bold new blends, creating flavours that reflect the place they’re made. The festival is a chance to taste that innovation firsthand, meet the makers behind it, and experience what craft gin truly means.

A bartender pours red gin from a large round glass decanter into a small shot glass labeled 'GIN Festival' on a wooden bar counter.
People lined up at a bar or beverage station, ordering and receiving drinks, with bottles of alcohol and flowers on the table.
Display of various bottles of gin, some with labels indicating flavors like Night Blossom Gin and Lost Horizon Rare Tea Gin, arranged on a table with promotional posters and pink flower decorations.

  • The word "craft" gets thrown around a lot in the world of distilling, whether it be a descriptor of a distillery or a category on a bar menu. In British Columbia, “craft distillery” is a protected designation. To be recognized as a BC Craft Distillery, producers must:

    • Make no more than 50,000 litres of spirit per year

    • Use 100% BC-grown agricultural products to create their alcohol

    • Ferment and distill everything onsite

These standards ensure that every bottle supports local farmers, local jobs, and local innovation. So when you visit the BC Gin Festival or buy from a BC Craft Distilleries, you’re truly tasting the spirit of our province.

  • BC Gin Festival is a fundraiser for the Indian Summer Arts Society, a not-for-profit secular arts organization and registered charity based in Vancouver. Indian Summer is dedicated to centering and uplifting South Asian and BIPOC artists, offering multi-art experiences that connect rich and complex pasts with the emerging future, delighting audiences while provoking necessary dialogue and debate. Your presence at the BC Gin festival is more than just a celebration of fine spirits and craft distilleries – it is all of that and a commitment to championing artists expression, strengthening community bonds, amplifying diverse voices and recognising that, in trying times, art is our collective unifying force.

Every ticket sold directly supports local South Asian and BIPOC artists and arts.
